rolling in the deep

Sorry I've been so M.I.A. lately. I've been a terrible blogger I know, I know. While most of us would jump at the chance of nine whole work-free days and fill up every day with cutesy blog posts of their daily spring time apparel, I used my vacation week to really relax and re-coop from the crazy stressful mayhem I was living in for the last month or so. And it felt awesome. But now that I'm back in school, longing for that school bell to ring in June when I can go outside in my favorite summer dress and not have to get up at 6:30 the next morning to return. Siiigh. Let's just say: I can't freaking wait for summer. Anyways, I'm not sure how much time I'm going to have to set up the tripod and take outfit photos myself anytime soon, so for now we're just gonna have to rely on photo booth or the occasional impromptu photo shoot with the bffs. P.s. I had a lot of fun taking these photos. They're slightly ridiculous, fyi.

Urban Skirt, Tank, and Socks, Nordstrom's Cardigan, Nine West Boots, H&M Necklace

I've always had such difficulty wearing this skirt because of it's off-white color. I didn't want the top to be too matchy matchy, but this crochet tank was perfect. The socks were the finishing touch. I've been looking for some over-the-knee socks to wear with dresses, and I found a wall of them at Urban. I bought multiples :) Also, although my nails look black (sorry bad photography), I tried the new Shatter Top Coat from O.P.I. and can I just say, it's the coolest thing ever. When people told me it cracks before their eyes, I was like yeah right... no way a polish can do that. I was so wrong. There's no words to really describe the magic of this polish. It's just so amazing. I highly recommend it. It rocks.

NYC!

My best friend of eight beautiful summers.

hailing my first cab :)

Just got home from a beautiful weekend in NYC! As soon as I walked in the door of my friend's apartment, I was pushed right out and into a cab to go shopping. I visited my first American Apparel, explored the candy coated floors of Dylan's, and witnessed a wedding in Central Park! I also tried my very first frozen yogurt at 16 Handles..... so delicious. It was also my friend Ming's birthday on Wednesday, so we got her a mouth watering red velvet and cream cheese frosting cake! So I'm not really excited to go back to school this week, but it's going to 80 degrees tomorrow, and it's vacation next week! xxx

just a little wedge

With the warm weather finally growing nearer, it's time to head to the nail salon and get a nice pastel colored mani-pedi and whip out some open-toed shoes. Or at least that's what I did. Now for me, flats are one of the most uncomfortable shoes in the world. Sure, they are super cute, and add a little subtle touch to any ensemble. But I really don't like having my heel and toes squished into a little tiny shoe. I'd much rather let my feet breathe in some neutral wedges. Luckily, some of the heels on these lovely footwear aren't too high; perfect for the warmer weather at school! This month's Urban catalog was filled with several pairs of these fancy shoes; my mom and I were eyeing them all!

I'm off the NYC for the weekend! All my camp friends are meeting up, and I couldn't be more excited. Some of us occasionally see each other, but it's so rare that all of us are together under one roof. And although I'm going to be surrounded by beautiful boutiques and the longing temptation to spend all my money in one store will constantly be floating through my mind, the thing I'm most excited about is trying Pinkberry for the first time! I'll hopefully take pictures and blog about my adventures when I get home! Have a great weekend! :) xxx

Spring Ahead

As spring weather approaches, stores eagerly hit the drawing boards to create new garments that show off this spring's latest trends. So instead of writing a whole long description of each beautiful new trend, I'd thought I'd show off some of the things I'm most excited for.

Color Blocking: So although I love color, and it can lighten my mood to extreme levels any day, I'm terribly at putting things together. For the longest time I would constantly pair my black blazer with some  sort of navy blue top without realizing what I was really wearing. But when I first saw pictures of this trend I said "Wow!" and "Ew." at the same time. I suppose I still have those feelings now, but the "Wow!" factor has grown. Seeing my favorite colored solids matched with colors I would never even think of putting next to each other in my closet has definitely changed my opinion about the trend and the color wheel.

LWD: We all have our favorite LBD, but this spring, we're pushing them to the back of the shelf and pulling out a little white dress instead. Personally, wearing black makes me feel slimmer, but also very dark (obviously). When I have a white lace top draped over my chest, I feel much lighter. Does white have this effect on other people, or is it just me?

The weather has been pretty weird recently. Like last week, my weather app said 49 degrees, so I wore jeans and a t-shirt. As I walked the halls that day, I became instantly jealous of the skirts and floral dresses that filled the school. Not to mention I was sweating like crazy. So the next day my weather app said 54 degrees. I was so excited for a little taste of warm weather, so I wore my new black shorts and a big sweater. Turns out it was going to snow that day... so I suffered the whole day feeling awkwardly cold and had to accept the dozens of stares I was receiving from my peers. So now I'm having a very hard time trusting my little weather app, or anyone else for that matter. All I want is some sixty degree weather and to be able to whip out my high waisted shorts. C'mon, just one day. That's all I'm asking!
